Our clear and transparent protocol for rectifying factual errors and updating ongoing coverage
While NEWSMART strives for meticulous accuracy in every report, errors may inadvertently occur. When an inaccuracy is identified, our policy is to correct it swiftly, openly, and transparently. We never quietly alter facts or delete past articles without an explanatory editor note.
When an article contains a significant factual error (such as an incorrect statistic, misattributed quote, or wrong name), the copy is immediately corrected, and a distinct Correction Note is appended at the top or bottom of the article stating what was changed, why, and the exact timestamp.
Minor spelling, typographical, or grammatical errors that do not alter the substance, meaning, or facts of the report are corrected directly without requiring a formal editor clarification note.
For ongoing breaking news coverage, updates with new information are clearly marked with an “Updated at [Timestamp]” indicator to keep readers informed of the progression of events.
We welcome our readers to hold us accountable. If you notice any factual error or misleading detail in an article on NEWSMART, please contact our desk:
